This Month @ The TNM: July 2026
For America's 250th, host Will Kacy reads the Declaration's real operational heart, that these colonies are free and independent states, as a blueprint that lives on in Texas.
For the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, host Will Kacy looks past the familiar opening lines to the document’s operational heart.
It is the declaration that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states. Not state, Kacy points out. States, plural. The Declaration is not just a founding myth but a blueprint for self-government, and its core principle, that a people may govern themselves, is the same one that animates the Texas independence movement today.
