This Month @ The TNM: October 2024
Host Will Kacy on energy: how Washington's thumb on the scale has hurt the Texas grid, and how the grid actually works.
Host Will Kacy takes on the fear that Texas could not keep the lights on without Washington, and turns it around.
For years, he argues, federal regulators have put a thumb on the scale of the Texas grid through environmental rules and green-energy mandates, and reliability has paid the price. Along the way he explains how the grid actually works, why the current has to be generated the instant it is used, and how price signals tell generators when to ramp up or down.
