TNM Targets Key Legislation in the 89th Texas Legislative Session

With the 89th Legislative Session now in full swing, the Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) is setting its sights on key bills that align with its mission to advance Texas’s political, cultural, and economic independence. While the Texas Independence Referendum Act remains the primary focus, TNM is also championing a slate of legislation designed to reinforce state sovereignty, preserve Texas heritage, and build economic resilience.

Defending Texas Sovereignty

Texas Sovereignty Act (HB 796, HB 898, SB 80)

The Texas Sovereignty Act seeks to establish a committee to evaluate federal actions and determine their constitutionality. If an action is deemed unconstitutional, the Texas Supreme Court will review it, and if affirmed, Texas would declare the action null and void within the state. This act is a direct assertion of state rights and a crucial step toward self-governance.

TNM Position: Strongly support. This legislation empowers Texas to determine its own constitutional path rather than relying on federal institutions. It is an essential step in securing autonomy over state affairs.

Rejecting Global Influence

Limiting Jurisdiction of International Organizations (HB 706, HB 1377, SB 129, SB 386)

This set of bills would prohibit entities such as the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and the World Economic Forum from having jurisdiction in Texas. The intent is to prevent the imposition of international mandates on the state.

TNM Position: Support. These bills reaffirm Texas’s independence by ensuring that governance remains in the hands of Texans, not unelected global organizations.

Economic Independence Through Sound Currency

Establishing a Gold/Silver-Based Currency (HB 1049, HB 1056, SB 665)

This legislation would establish a Texas-based currency backed by gold and silver, with some provisions including a digital implementation.

TNM Position: Support. A sound money system independent of federal control would protect Texas’s economy from inflation and centralized monetary policies that do not serve the state’s interests.

Preserving Texas History

Monument Protection (HB 840, SB 317)

These bills focus on protecting Texas monuments, including the Alamo Cenotaph, by preventing their removal or alteration without legislative approval.

TNM Position: Strongly support. Preserving Texas history is crucial for maintaining the cultural identity and sovereignty of the state.

Protecting Firearms Freedom

Firearms Regulation and Federal Oversight (HB 1617, SB 130, HJR 116)

These bills would prevent federal firearm regulations from applying to weapons, accessories, and ammunition manufactured in Texas. HJR 116 would go further by proposing a constitutional amendment removing federal jurisdiction over firearm-related matters in the state.

TNM Position: Support. The right to bear arms is fundamental to Texas culture, and ensuring that regulations are determined at the state level aligns with the movement’s goal of self-governance.

Energy Independence

Electrical Grid Resilience (HB 941, SB 75)

These bills seek to strengthen Texas’s electrical grid, ensuring it remains independent and protected from federal influence.

TNM Position: Support. Energy security is a critical factor in economic independence, and a strong, self-sufficient grid ensures Texans remain in control of their power supply.

Border Security and State Defense

Border Protection and State Guard Expansion (HB 354, HB 1982, HB 1305)

These bills propose the creation of a dedicated Border Protection Unit and an expansion of the Texas State Guard to operate independently of federal oversight.

TNM Position: Strongly support. A secure border and an independent state guard are vital to maintaining Texas’s self-reliance in matters of security and emergency response.

Securing Texas Elections

Election Integrity (HB 1013)

This bill aims to bolster election integrity through enhanced security measures and transparency in the electoral process.

TNM Position: Support, with the caveat that election security should be applied fairly and transparently. Free and fair elections are essential to maintaining the integrity of Texas governance.

Safeguarding Texas Land

Protection of Texas Real Estate from Foreign Ownership (HB 243, HB 402, HB 518, HB 1849, HB 2389, HB 2536, SB 103, SB 307, HB 2519)

These bills aim to prevent foreign entities, particularly from adversarial nations, from purchasing land critical to Texas’s security and economy.

TNM Position: Support. Ensuring that Texas land remains under Texan control is vital to economic and security interests.

Moving Forward

The TNM is actively monitoring these and other legislative efforts, working to mobilize Texans in support of measures that enhance state sovereignty and self-determination. As the session progresses, the movement remains committed to ensuring that lawmakers hear the voices of Texans who believe in a free and independent Texas.
