The TEXIT Petition: What You Need To Know And Do Right Now

We’re officially at the midway point of the TEXIT Petition Campaign, and we still have a way to go to reach our goal. Here’s what you need to know so that we can finish strong and get Texans a vote on independence.

What Is The TEXIT Petition

In June of this year, the Texas Nationalist Movement launched a campaign to force a TEXIT referendum on the 2022 Primary ballot. Using a provision in the Texas Election Code, if the TNM collects the required number of valid physical signatures on a paper petition, the question (“Should the State of Texas reassert its status as an independent nation?”) must, by law, be placed on the Primary ballot in the Spring of 2022.

Since the campaign’s launch, the TNM has been recruiting and training volunteer petition circulators, holding petition signing events and reaching out to TNM supporters and Texas voters to get their signatures on this legal petition. The law is very clear on how the petition signatures have to be collected and who can sign. It is not an easy process, but the ability to vote on TEXIT is guaranteed if we reach the legal threshold.

The Goal and the Deadline

By law, to get the TEXIT question on the primary ballot in 2022, we must collect and submit 76,854 valid signatures of registered Texas voters. However, we have set a target of over 80,000 to account for errors, duplicates, and invalid signatures.

All signatures must be submitted by the end date of the candidate filing window which is December 13, 2021. However, the TNM has set a date of December 1, 2021, to account for any additional verification that must be done before the deadline.

It is this simple. We must submit a minimum of 76,854 valid signatures by December 13, 2021. If we do, the TEXIT question will be on the 2022 primary ballot. If not, you will not get an opportunity to vote on TEXIT.

How To Know If You’ve Already Signed It

Don’t let misinformation or miscommunication keep you from signing and preventing us from reaching our goal of having a TEXIT vote in 2022.

It cannot be overstated that this is not an online petition. If you signed something online, it is not the legal TEXIT Petition. Also, if you signed any petition before June 2021, it is not the legal TEXIT Petition.

The only way that your signature counts is if you have connected with one of the TNM’s Certified Petition Circulators who read you the legal statement at the top of the petition and, after being read the statement, you physically signed the petition.

Don’t assume that everyone else will sign the petition so you won’t need to. If you want a vote on TEXIT, then you must do everything you can to get your signature on the petition.

Where You Can Sign

There are three ways that you can sign the petition.

Attend a Petition Signing Event – All TNM events have been turned into petition signing events for the duration of this campaign. You can find a full list of upcoming events at https://tnm.me/events.

Find a Certified Petition Circulator Near You – Some of our petition circulators have added their names, contact information, and location to a publicly accessible directory. Find one on the map closest to you, contact them, and make arrangements to connect with them and sign the petition.

Become a CPC and Sign Your Own Petition – There may not be an event or CPC near you. We simply do not have enough volunteers collecting signatures. You can kill two birds with one stone by signing up to be a petition circulator, taking a short tutorial on how to collect signatures, signing your own petition, grabbing a few more signatures from friends and family, and then submitting the completed petition forms.

Other Ways You Can Help

No matter what else you’d like to do to help, you first need to get your signature on the petition. After that, there are other ways to help get this across the finish line.

The first, and best way, to help is to become a Certified Petition Circulator and help us collect signatures. It’s one of the easiest ways to get us across the finish line. Many hands make light work and your hands are needed to get us all a vote on TEXIT in 2022.

The next way is to make sure that you are spreading the word to as many people as possible. Go to the TEXIT Petition page and share the link via social media, email, text message, or by simply telling people that it’s happening.

You can also help us spread the word by making a donation to the campaign on the TEXIT Petition Page. Every dollar contributed helps us reach more Texans that need to know this petition exists and where to sign.

This Is The Most Important Thing You Could Be Doing Right Now

The stakes are higher than they have ever been. There is no way that any Texan in good conscience could look at the assaults coming from Washington, DC, and be “OK” with sitting idly by and doing nothing. Putting ink on paper or asking others to do so is a small price to pay to save the future of Texas.

Thousands of Texans have already done it. We need thousands more. Will you be one of those?
