Texas State Representative David Spiller filed two bills this week aimed at preventing hostile foreign governments from acquiring Texas land, marking a critical step toward protecting state sovereignty. The legislation addresses mounting concerns over land purchases by nations identified as security threats by U.S. intelligence agencies.
As a Texan who has watched our state’s resources become targets for foreign acquisition, I can tell you this legislation isn’t just timely – it’s essential for our future independence. House Bill 191 specifically targets four nations listed by the U.S. Director of National Intelligence as security risks: China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. These countries would be prohibited from purchasing or leasing any Texas land, including mineral rights.
The second piece of legislation, House Bill 243, empowers our Attorney General to use eminent domain to reclaim “critical infrastructure” from foreign control. This provision gives Texas the tools we need to protect vital assets from outside influence. What makes these bills particularly effective is their comprehensive scope – they cover all land types, not just agricultural property.
We’re seeing strong public support for these measures. According to polling data from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, over 75% of Texans support legislation blocking Chinese acquisition of Texas land. This overwhelming backing shows that our people understand what’s at stake – the preservation of Texas sovereignty over our own soil.
These legislative efforts represent a direct challenge to foreign interference in Texas affairs. While some might view this as merely a property rights issue, we in the Texas Nationalist Movement recognize it as a fundamental question of self-determination. Every acre of Texas land under foreign control is an acre that weakens our ability to govern ourselves effectively.
Looking at our history, we see parallels to the spirit of independence that drove the original Texas Revolution. Just as our forebears refused to submit to foreign control, today’s Texans are standing firm against modern threats to our sovereignty. The timing of these bills, filed at the start of the new legislative session, positions Texas to take concrete action against foreign exploitation of our resources.
What happens next depends on the legislative process, but one thing is clear: Texas is not for sale. This legislation sends a message that resonates beyond our borders – Texas will protect its interests, preserve its independence, and maintain control over its destiny. The bill filing period continues through March 15, giving our representatives time to strengthen these protections further.
I guess TNM doesn’t believe in property rights.
You’re going to tell me who I can and cannot sell my property to?
Sounds like COMMUNISM to me!
“Hostile countries?”
The most hostile, terroristic, thieving, war mongering, interventionist country on the planet is the lowly, fascist “united states.” THEY are the ones that have been on a decades-long campaign of worldwide looting and domination.
You need to learn who your REAL enemies are.
They are not China or Russia (which is outright ignorant & laughable). It is the conniving, lying Demons who make up the US FedGov!
Your half right, but also half wrong. Most do not see Russia as a enemy, it is indeed communist china that is a real problem. Indeed, the current regime here is as bad, because it is in the pocket of 🇨🇳ccp influence.
It is ‘laughable’ to believe otherwise.
Go try to purchase land abroad with a US passport in these places and see how quick you get shutdown.
It’s also Laughable this sort of legislation was not taken care of far sooner.
