Oct 14, 2017 was the annual Chandler Pow Wow Festival. This local festival features a parade with some rides and attractions for the kids. This is the 2nd year that TNM has had a booth at this event. Last year we had an excellent response from the people in attendance during our 2016 Referendum petition drive and anticipated a similar turn out.
I want to give a shout out to the volunteers that helped work this event. From Tyler, Tx. Texian Volunteer Corps Team Leader Ray Gruetzner and TNM-Tyler member Charles Turner helped work the crowd that was there.
The morning started off extremely muggy and continued to get hotter as the day progressed. We were disappointed with the size of the crowd this year which was pale in comparison to last year. I attribute the low turn out to the unseasonably warm weather. However the team collected 21 pledges to vote for an independent Texas and several indicated they would donate to the cause and be willing to volunteer. There was lots of information given out and we ran into almost no resistance to a separation from the Union.
The day in my estimation was a success. I talked with a lady from Quebec, Canada who was excited to find out that Texas had an independence organization. She was was so excited that she took our picture and sent it to her friends in Canada and wished us success in our endeavors. She is a kindred spirit as she wishes and longs for an independent Quebec.
