Foreign land. Attorney General Ken Paxton proposed strengthened rules to enforce Senate Bill 17, the 2025 law barring certain individuals and entities tied to China, Russia, Iran and North Korea from buying Texas land, his office announced Friday. The rules would let any person file a complaint with the attorney general’s office and would have the office plan an online registry of covered properties, including those bought before the law took effect, modeled on the Texas Sex Offender Registry. The proposal appears in the October 9 issue of the Texas Register, and Paxton said he is also planning a task force to find and stop foreign land sales.
