Data centers. The Public Utility Commission of Texas sued Attorney General Ken Paxton in Travis County district court on Monday to block the release of two fields from its Energy and Water Use Survey of data centers: the county where each facility sits and its state regional water planning area, according to the commission’s petition. Paxton’s office ruled in September that the information must be disclosed under the Public Information Act after requests from five people, including reporters at the Texas Tribune, the Texas Observer and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The commission argues the combined data would let a person planning an attack “select specific, high-load facilities” and the grid and water systems each one depends on. As of August, 90 of the 377 facilities contacted had completed the voluntary survey, the Texas Tribune reported.

Hutto. Blue Origin Manufacturing is building an advanced manufacturing and operations campus in Hutto with a $554,780,000 capital investment that will create more than 2,000 jobs, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Thursday. The state extended an $18,171,000 Texas Enterprise Fund grant and a $10,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus to the company.

Colleges. Every public college and university in Texas will waive undergraduate application fees for Texas residents during Free College Application Week, October 12 through 18, the governor’s office said. The release notes that undergraduate tuition is frozen through the 2026-27 school year.

Alberta and Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe answered Elon Musk’s post that “Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too” with one word, “No,” and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said she strongly disagrees with him, Global News reported Wednesday. Musk was replying to Quebec premier-designate Paul St-Pierre Plamondon. Smith has said she will vote to remain in Canada in Alberta’s October 19 referendum.
