The pattern of Big Tech censorship against conservative voices and independence movements has taken a disturbing new turn, with both the Texas Nationalist Movement and Republican organizations now facing systematic email suppression by Google’s Gmail platform.
In April, the Texas Nationalist Movement reported that a staggering 80% of emails containing references to our organization or Texas independence were being automatically diverted to subscribers’ spam folders. This deliberate suppression reached what we called a “critical stage,” effectively cutting off communication between TNM and thousands of our supporters across Texas.
Now, just weeks later, major Republican committees, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission over identical treatment. They’re alleging that Google suppressed their election-related emails during the last election cycle, potentially harming voter turnout by blocking critical communication channels.
The parallels are unmistakable. Both TNM and Republican organizations are experiencing the same systematic suppression of political communications. Both groups are seeing their ability to reach supporters and voters deliberately hindered by Google’s opaque algorithms. And both are being told by Google that their spam filters are somehow “neutral” and “unbiased.”
This is exactly what we’ve been warning Texans about and dealing with for years,” said Daniel Miller, President of the Texas Nationalist Movement. “Big Tech has declared war on conservative voices and anyone who challenges the political establishment. When they can’t silence us on social media, they attack our email communications. When 80% of our emails about Texas independence are being buried in spam folders, that’s not an accident – that’s deliberate censorship designed to keep Texans from hearing the truth about their right to self-determination.”
Miller added, “We were right all along.”
This latest assault on TNM communications is part of a broader pattern of Big Tech censorship we’ve faced. In 2023, our TikTok account was mysteriously suspended without explanation, only to be quietly reinstated after we raised public awareness about the censorship. We’ve also faced restrictions and suppression across other major platforms.
The timing of these email suppression efforts is particularly telling. As support for Texas independence continues to grow and our movement gains momentum, Big Tech companies are working overtime to limit our ability to communicate with supporters. They understand that an informed Texas population is their greatest threat.
What makes this censorship even more egregious is Google’s response – or lack thereof. When we brought this issue to their attention, they claimed they needed “more information to investigate.” This is the same company that can track every click, every search, and every email with pinpoint accuracy. Yet, somehow, they can’t figure out why Texas independence emails are being systematically suppressed.
The Republican complaints filed with the FTC represent an opportunity for broader action against Big Tech censorship. Their allegations that Google’s email suppression “harmed voter turnout” during elections should concern every Texan who believes in free and fair electoral processes. If they can suppress Republican election communications, they can certainly suppress Texas independence communications.
This coordinated suppression effort reveals the true fear of the political establishment and their Big Tech allies. They’re terrified of Texans learning about their constitutional right to independence. They’re scared of the growing support for Texas reasserting its status as an independent nation. And they’re desperate to maintain the failing status quo by any means necessary.
But here’s what they don’t understand about Texans – we don’t back down from bullies. We don’t surrender our rights because some Silicon Valley executives decide they don’t like our message. We find a way around their censorship, we build our own platforms, and we keep fighting for what’s right.
The Federal Trade Commission’s ongoing inquiry into Big Tech censorship, announced in February, provides an important opportunity to expose these suppression tactics. Both TNM and Republican organizations are documenting the evidence of systematic bias and political targeting by Google and other tech giants.
Texans deserve to know that their communications about independence are being deliberately suppressed by the same Big Tech companies that claim to support free speech and open dialogue. They deserve to understand that Google’s email algorithms aren’t neutral – they’re weapons being used against conservative voices and independence movements.
As we continue to fight for Texas independence, we’re also fighting for the fundamental right of Texans to communicate freely about their political future. Big Tech censorship won’t stop us from reaching our supporters, and it certainly won’t stop the growing momentum for Texas independence.
The path to independence has never been easy, but it’s never been more necessary. And no amount of Big Tech censorship will prevent Texans from reclaiming their right to self-government.
