Abbott’s Border Move and the Bill He Won’t Call: Late Night Coffee Talk, Part 2

The stream kept dying. Something knocked Daniel Miller offline at the start of the night and did it again here in the back half, so Part 2 picks up mid-thought, with a half-joking theory that the platforms didn’t care for him saying Greg Abbott had just told the border region it was going to be lit up. Tech trouble aside, the argument underneath stayed the same: it is never too late to act, and when things get tough you get tougher.

The center of the night was Abbott and the border. Miller read the governor’s recent move as poll-driven, not principled. The primary is over, the base is not energized, and a chunk of voters who opposed Abbott are ready to sit out November, so he has to do something. Miller laid out what he would do instead. Declare the invasion, fully militarize the State Guard, deploy the whole of Texas military forces to the border to stop it, and tell the federal government to go to hell. Then call a special session for one explicit purpose: draft and pass the TEXIT bill so Texans get a vote on becoming a self-governing independent nation with full control over immigration and border policy, among much else. His instruction to viewers was blunt. Tell Abbott that is what you want.

Around that he ran his usual rundown. The TNM election integrity task force is live and wants firsthand accounts of primary irregularities, not secondhand Facebook rumors. New local groups are spinning up across the state on the backs of local and deputy coordinators. And a viewer flagged that WBAP 820 AM host Rick Roberts said on air in Dallas Fort Worth that he supports Texas leaving the Union, the kind of public statement Miller wants leadership to chase down and amplify.
