When I first met Will Kacy, what struck me wasn’t just his talent with a camera or his technical know-how. It was something you can’t teach – that unmistakable fire in the eyes of a Texan who understands what’s at stake for our state.
Will got to Texas as quickly as he could – at age five – and grew up in Victoria before heading to Austin after high school. Like many of us, he navigated the corporate world for a while, putting in a decade of television production work in Houston before launching a technology company with a childhood friend. But it was a move to his in-laws’ ranch in central Texas that perhaps best exemplifies the man – stepping up to help family remain in their home as they aged, a mission he proudly reports as “accomplished.”
The wake-up call came in 2012. While many Texans grumbled about the presidential election results and then went about their business, Will saw something deeper – a fundamental signal that the union was broken beyond repair. He began researching what breaking away might look like, and soon found himself drawn to our movement.
“I knew the union was on the wrong path,” Will tells me, with the straightforward clarity that has become his trademark. No hedging, no qualifying statements – just the truth as he sees it.
Today, Will produces our monthly video update “This Month @ the TNM,” a vital communication tool for our local groups across Texas. His background in television production and technology has proven invaluable, bringing a level of professionalism to our messaging that helps cut through the media noise.
When I ask him why Texas should be independent, his answer isn’t about abstract principles or historical grievances. It’s deeply personal:
“I want my children and grandchildren to be able to experience what true freedom is.”
That’s the heart of it all, isn’t it? While analysts debate economic projections and constitutional arguments, for most of us, this is about a future we can believe in – one where Texans determine Texas’s destiny.
Will isn’t blind to the challenges we face. “A big challenge is getting our message out to people who may not have realized that independence is a possibility,” he acknowledges. But there’s no defeatism here – instead, he sees his video work as part of the solution.
When talk turns to the future, Will doesn’t say “if” Texas becomes independent – he correctly says, “WHEN it becomes independent.” He envisions a Texas “freed from the greed and corruption of Washington,” standing tall with “unprecedented growth and prosperity.” But he’s no wide-eyed idealist. His caution about Austin politics reveals a clear-eyed realism: we must remain vigilant against creating our own swamp here in Texas.
His advice to those considering joining our movement? Pure Will Kacy – straight and to the point:
“DO IT! If you’re a citizen of our great state and know the path our country is on is leading to disaster, educate yourself on what we stand for, and then stand with us!”
That’s the kind of no-nonsense call to action that encapsulates what we’re about. Not endless debate or theoretical discussions, but standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow Texans who understand what independence really means.
That’s Will Kacy – a man turning his talents toward securing Texas’s future. And we’re lucky to have him.
