In this special year-end edition of This Month @ The TNM, host Will Kacy celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of the Texas Nationalist Movement in 2025—a year that will be remembered as a turning point in our journey toward independence. Twenty years ago, Daniel Miller founded the TNM and many dismissed the idea of Texas independence as a pipe dream. Today, over 600,000 registered supporters across all 254 Texas counties prove otherwise. We’re building independence county by county, community by community.
Our most significant legislative victory came with House Bill 1056—the Transactional Gold Bill. Governor Abbott signed it into law on June 22nd. For the first time in modern American history, a state has created a functional currency system independent of the Federal Reserve. Starting May 1, 2027, Texans can use debit cards or mobile apps to make everyday purchases backed by gold and silver stored in our own Texas Bullion Depository. The Federal Government can print unlimited dollars, inflating them into worthlessness—but they can’t print gold or silver. Economic independence is essential for political independence, and HB 1056 builds the infrastructure a Republic of Texas will need.
On February 4th, we launched our first official county branch in Angelina County. By October, we had expanded into over 60 counties representing approximately 78% of Texas voters. Texans Arise workshops in Round Rock and New Braunfels are training volunteers with practical political skills to build an army for Texas First candidates heading into 2026.
The federal government is $36 trillion in debt. They’ve left our border unsecured while micromanaging our schools, our businesses, and our daily lives. Meanwhile, Texas has the world’s eighth-largest economy, vast energy resources, and the entrepreneurial spirit to compete with any nation on earth. We don’t need Washington. They need us.
The question isn’t whether Texas can succeed as an independent nation. The question is—what are we waiting for?
