182 Years Later, We Still Remember the Alamo

One hundred and eighty-two years ago today, the Alamo, being defended by no more than two hundred Texians from across world, fell to a superior force led by dictator General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Their sacrifice bought precious time for General Sam Houston and his men to prepare to meet the Mexican Army. During the battle of San Jacinto, where the Texians were victorious, the Alamo served as a rallying cry for the troops. With that battle, the country was won.

It is likely that without the Alamo, Texas as we have known it would never have come to be.

Remember.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.
